Figueres (fēgā`rəs) or Figueras (–räs) town (1990 pop. 34,463), Girona prov., NE Spain, in Catalonia, near the French border. Traditionally a fortified city because of its strategic location, it is now an important communications center. Its manufactures include chemicals, textiles, and cement. In the Spanish civil war Figueres served briefly as the seat of the Loyalist government. Its 18th-century fortress is now a prison. Salvador Dalí Dalí, Salvador (sälväthōr` dälē`, dä`lē), 1904–89, Spanish painter.

I also worked in the 1992 Seville World Expo pavilion, and then at Jean Luc Figueres, Jean Luc gave me carte-planche, to some extent.
And should we travel from Philadelphia to his hometown, Figueres, to see the Dali theater museum, with its fantastic realms of pulsating jewelry, installation art, ceiling frescoes, and garden sculptures, his still-unexplored legacy would stretch even further.
