Hualien

Hualien or Hua-lien (hwä`lyĕn`), city (1995 pop. 108,192), E central Taiwan. One of Taiwan's most important international ports, it is a market for local agricultural products. It is located in a volcanic region and is susceptible to earthquakes.

To test whether some vegetarians come up short on B vitamins, a team of eight researchers from three Taiwanese universities measured concentrations of several vitamins and amino acids in the blood plasma of 90 women--half of them vegetarians--from Hualien, Taiwan.
Other companies using PSC products in China include Wal-Mart, Carrefour, Hualien, LuenHwa, CRC, and Nonggongzhang.
