Ronda (rôn`dä), town (1990 pop. 34,102), Málaga prov., S Spain, in Andalusia. One of the most colorful of Spanish towns, it is beautifully situated high in the mountains of Sierra de Ronda and is a popular tourist destination. The old Moorish town, atop a hill, is separated from the lower new town by a deep gorge of the Guadalevín River. Commercial bullfighting is said to have its origins in Ronda. |
