Woman Gets Voice Back after 11 Years

A 52-year-old woman in California has become the second person ever to receive a larynx transplant, allowing her to finally speak without the assistance of an electronic device for the first time since a breathing tube permanently damaged her airway 11 years ago. Two weeks after the 18-hour surgery to replace her larynx, thyroid, and a portion of her trachea, she was able to speak.
