Ibogaine

Ibogaine, a psychoactive compound derived from plants, is used by some African peoples for medicinal and ritual purposes. Identified in the early 1960s as having anti-addictive properties, it has been shown to cause sudden and complete interruption of heroin addiction—without withdrawal—in a matter of hours. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Premieres (1937)

Snow White was the first full-length animated feature film in history. It was animated entirely by hand and took Walt Disney and his studio three years to complete. It was exponentially more expensive than the animated shorts the studio had produced until that time and met with considerable opposition. What other film did Jackson agree to appear in without reading the script? More...

St. Thomas's Day (Episcopal Church) (2016)

When the Apostles left Jerusalem to preach to the people of other nations, as Jesus had instructed them to do, tradition says Thomas traveled eastward toward India. In Kerala, the smallest state in India, the Malabar Christians claim St. Thomas as the founder of their church. For them, his feast day is a major celebration. More...

Humpback Whales' 'Humanitarian' Tendencies Might Not Be as Selfless

In spring 2015, marine biologist Nancy Black was out on her boat watching a group of killer whales hunt a group of sea lions. As soon as the killer whales surrounded one of the sea lions, some humpback whales charged the attack, “trumpets blowing,” recalled Black. That ... More...
